Job Description

Sony Pictures Television is looking for a strong leader to join our team as Vice President of Data Science to lead our data science initiatives. The world’s largest independent studio, Sony Pictures Television, produces original content for linear networks and digital platforms. We are seeking a visionary & highly collaborative data science leader to spearhead our data science strategy, unlock predictive insights, and build a world-class team of data scientists. This leader will be part of the ISA leadership team, at the intersection of data, analytics, and creative television production and distribution. The role involves scaling the data science team within Insights, Strategy & Analytics, and unlocking value in television production, content distribution, and studio financial models. The Vice President will collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders across SP E, set the vision and growth roadmap for the data science organization, manage a high-performance team, and leverage AI-driven data science techniques to drive strategic decisions and business growth. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in data science methodologies, predictive modeling, machine learning, AI innovations, and statistical modeling, with a proven track record of delivering business value. The Vice President, Data Science will report to the SVP of Data Analytics. Responsibilities: Lead and oversee a high-performance data science team, providing strategic direction, innovative vision, and mentorship. Develop and implement a comprehensive data science strategy aligned with studio objectives. Introduce the latest data science techniques & innovations, including GenAI, NLP, computer vision, neural networks, and reinforcement learning. Collaborate with other analytics teams and leaders within ISA, including engineering, data management, visualization, product management, and data strategists. Identify and prioritize data science projects that drive business value. Develop advanced data applications, predictive models, and machine learning algorithms to solve complex problems. Champion best practices in experimentation, model validation, and deployment. Communicate insights effectively to technical and non-technical audiences. Translate insights into actionable models and tools that produce measurable outcomes. Stay current with AI, ML, and data science trends and evaluate new tools and technologies. Foster a collaborative culture of learning and teamwork within Insights, Strategy & Analytics. Minimum Qualifications: Advanced degree (MS/PhD) in a quantitative field such as Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or Physics. 15+ years in data analysis, statistical modeling, or machine learning. 8-10+ years in leadership, managing and mentoring data science teams. Experience working in high-paced environments, with expertise in agile tools and model development. Proficiency in programming languages like Python or R, and familiarity with ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, XGBoost. Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau or Power BI. Track record of building data-driven applications that deliver significant business value. Excellent communication skills for conveying technical insights to diverse audiences. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in the media and entertainment industry. Proficiency in SQL and big data technologies like Hadoop or Spark. Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure. Experience in an Agile development environment. Understanding of cloud storage strategies in media contexts. Passion for film and television. Executive presence and strategic thinking. Attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and innovative mindset. Strong visual and verbal presentation skills, with experience at the executive level. Commitment to continuous learning and professional growth.
